Set in the foothills of Western Ghats in the southern Indian state of Kerala, N.S.S College of Engineering, Palghat is one of the premier centers of technical education in Kerala. The college was founded in the 60s by the Nair Service Society - a social organization which was formed in the pre-independence era. The college moved to its present campus at N.S.S Nagar ( Akathethara), about 4 kilometers from Malampuzha dam (one of Kerala\'s biggest tourist attractions) in the late 60s.
The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut. The college offers undergraduate programs in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication and Instrumentation & Control Engineering. The annual intake is about four hundred students.
